Lawler Ballard Van Durand is an award-winning advertising agency located in the suburbs of Birmingham, AL. There, I enjoyed contributing design and art direction to a diverse portfolio of assets for an array of local, regional and national brands.

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics (formerly “Overlake Hospital Medical Center” and later “Overlake Medical Center” and “Overlake Medical Clinics,” independently) is an award-winning 349-bed non-profit regional medical center in Bellevue, Washington and a network of primary, urgent and specialty care clinics throughout Seattle and its Eastside communities. I joined Overlake’s four-person in-house marketing team as Production Coordinator in 2003, advancing to Senior Graphic Designer as the department grew to 10–of which, three were designers. Along the way, I confronted challenges that defied my abilities, learning new skills through the generous mentorship of many talented and passionate individuals with whom I had the pleasure of collaborating.

I became acquainted with Bellevue’s Kindering when my son flourished under the umbrella of their birth-to-three services, from which was created a program specific to his undiagnosed spectrum of challenges. The brilliant and tireless staff at Kindering were absolutely essential at that point in our lives–as they have been in the lives of countless other families. In gratitude, I created a simple, hopeful holiday card design they could produce and share with their client families. The enthusiastic response resulted in nearly a decade of creative collaboration, resulting in a distinctive brand identity and tightly focused messaging that allowed Kindering to extend the reach of their services beyond Bellevue to locations in Bothell, Redmond and Renton as well. The success of my partnership with Kindering afforded the opportunity to work with Children’s Therapy Center on their brand enhancement efforts.

Valley General Hospital, located in Monroe, Washington, was a health care institution bringing high-level medical and surgical treatment to residents of east Snohomish County. My contributions to Valley General Hospital’s marketing endeavors centered around identity/logo design for its clinics, specialty centers and affiliates; advertising design; event collateral design; publication design; and editorial and commercial photography.

In 2015, Valley General Hospital formed a strategic partnership with the EvergreenHealth system and changed its name to EvergreenHealth Monroe.
